Parker Poole Wedding

On February 16, Jessica and Aaron had a simple wedding at Aaron's home in Pineville, Louisiana. We had a chance to go into Alexandria to get these great shots with the oak trees as our backdrop. We were so afraid that the rain would keep us from being outside, but the sun came out and made it a beautiful day. Here are some of my favorites. srt

I'm sure that those who know me well, including my husband, thought I was definately insane. In May of 2007, I hosted and photographed a dear friend's wedding. November found me agreeing to do it again! Now there is no doubt that I am incapable of saying no to those I love. When you build relationships with people and they become important to your life, you can't help but want to share in their special day. It has been such a blessing to be a part of Kelly and Chris's relationship and it seemed so natural to host their reception at my home. What was supposed to be a roomy outdoor reception quickly changed when rain and mud forced everyone inside. I had no idea that so many people could fit in my home. During the process of capturing your heart in a photograph, you also capture a piece of mine. I wanted to start a portrait blog to share with you some of my favorites from current sessions. I had intended to combine the portrait and wedding favorites into one blog but I decided that it would be easier to separate the two. If you open the link for the blog from my website, you may get the wedding blog or the portrait blog, but you can easily transition between the two. To host a wedding at your home is to share your heart with those you love. I enjoyed the wedding celebration of Laura Beth and Russ on October 20th at the Martin's home on the Macon. To do this wedding was more than special for me. Emily has had a special place in my heart for many years now. She went from babysitter to Lillie Kate's kindergarten teacher in a blink of an eye. I prayed for her consistently last year as she made the decision to stay and teach at our little school. I think that year proved to have been God's plan for her after all. I have enjoyed following their relationship from the beginning, and and so glad I got the opportunity to capture their day. October 6 could have been a little cooler, but it could not have been more beautiful. The Cotton Museum was such a fun site for the reception, and Amanda Cottingham with The Pantry did an amazing job. A spectacular southern affair! Emily and Chris, I am so happy for you, and we miss you here in Lake Providence. srt

I've been in Louisiana for so long, that many of you might not know that Cartersville, Georgia was once my home. That was the destination for this wedding on September 29, 2007. Macie and I graduated from High School together and I was thrilled when she called and asked me to photograph her wedding. It was great to go back and spend some time with dear friends. I always consider it an honor to be invited to a wedding as a photographer. On September 15th, I celebrated the wedding of my cousin, Kish, both as a guest and as the photographer. Kish and David planned a small, intimate ceremony on the beach in Topsail, North Carolina. It was a joy and privilege to be able to attend and photograph their wedding. Oak Grove, LA was the setting for the wedding of Lacey Dettenhaim and Ty Rollinson on August 3, 2007. Hot and humid couldn’t begin to describe this day, but Lacey and Ty were real troopers to come outside and allow me to get some great shots in downtown Oak Grove. There were so many fun elements in this wedding and it was obvious that Lacey put a lot of thought into every detail. Here are a few of my favorites. srt

A few unexpected twists in my health this summer slowed me down a little but I was able to pull it together just in time for a beautiful wedding in Natchez, MS. Lauren and Brennan were married on July 21st at Dunleith Plantation. Lauren was radiant, and the setting was straight out of a fairy tale. Here's a few of my favorites. srt

On June 2nd I took a trip down south to the bayous in LaRose, Louisiana. The ceremony took place in a historic Catholic church with a full mass. The Priest's message to the couple was perfect and personalized just for them. Sarah was all smiles and Clint was just as relaxed. It was wonderful to see a couple so excited about their wedding day. Needless to say, I was thrilled to be able to share this magical day with Sarah and Clint. srt

It Takes a Village

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but it truly takes a village to host a wedding. On May the 26th, I had the awesome privilege of not only photographing the Swafford-Lewis wedding, but also hosting it at my home. And, needless to say, I could not have done it alone. I can't begin to name all of you who contributed your time and talents toward this special event, but to each of you I thank you for helping make the day so perfect. I will have to name two special people who carried the photography load off my back, Amy Terral and Penny Oswalt. Thank you for filling in the gaps when I couldn't be everywhere. Well, I waited forever to launch my new site, but of course I am having some technical difficulty. If you have emailed me from the site since it launched I have not been able to receive it. They are trying to recover them for me, but there is no guarantee that I will get them. New Website is Live!!!

After much anticipation, and much determination, www.srtphotography.com now has a new face. I am so excited to share it with you. I have been working hard on it and I am so proud of how it has turned out. I know a lot of you have been checking frequently, so thank you for your patience. Starting today, if you email me from the new website, I will put your name in a drawing for a free sitting. I will stop adding names on June 1st and announce the winner. SRT is changing!

SRT Photography has undergone some changes and I am so excited to share them with you. The most important change, as most of you are now aware, is that I have moved my studio to my home. This has been an exciting move and I think it will help me to better serve you in the future. Second, and just as exciting to me, is the launch of my new website. The website will still be located at www.srtphotography.com, however there will be some new and exciting features. Client proofing will now be available on the website instead of on the smugmug sight. There will be two galleries, one for portraits and one for weddings. For easy navigation, the opening page will provide a choice of three places to visit, including a button for this blog. I plan to use the blog as an opportunity to share what is happening in the life of srt photography. This will be a place to post some of my favorite shots from current portrait sittings and weddings. The website is scheduled to launch within the week and replace my current website. Be sure to check back often to see what's new.
